The Jumbos Opened up their season with a 6-4 victory led in large part by Senior tri-captain Speros Varinos. Varinos threw 7 scoreless innings striking out 13 while only allowing 7 hits and 1 walk against a strong Castleton State team.

On the season Speros would go on to throw 77.1 innings, striking out 86, with an 8-1 record, 1 save, and a 1.98 ERA. This stat line helped him earn several accolades including NESCAC Pitcher of the Year, New England Pitcher of the Year, and Second Team All America.
