
Earlier this month long time MIT baseball coach Fran O'Brien was honored with the renaming of MIT's home field to "Fran O'Brien Field." Fran spent 28 seasons as the Engineers head coach. Prior to entering coaching he attended Tufts where he was a standout baseball player, and captain of the 1955 team. He returned to the Jumbos as an assistant coach after his stint with MIT ended in 1996, and helped coach Tufts to an ECAC Championship. Throughout his illustrious career he managed to be highly succesful at several different levels including Babe Ruth, American Legion, high school, college, and the Cape Cod Baseball League.
