Our Teammate

We would like to introduce the newest member of our team.  His name is Adrian Misic.  We adopted him last fall through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.  Many had the honor to meet Adrian at the golf tournament.  He is a very special kid and we plan on having him as part of the Jumbos for many years to come.

2009 Diamond Club News

6/16/09

I am happy to announce that Todd Romboli has recently joined the Diamond Club. Todd has been a great supporter of the program. Todd is the 33rd member to join the Diamond Club in 2009 which means we reached our membership goal. Again we can't thank you all enough for all your support!!!!!

4/16/09

We are proud to announce the renewal of the Diamond Club memberships of Ken Fettig '52, Doug Gentile '96 and Steve Lapham '02. All three are tremendous supporters of the program and will be joining us for a day of golf and camaraderie on May 1. Ken has been with us from the beginning helping us tremendously with the Carzo Cage project as well. Lap brings so much energy to our golf committee and always offers to help the program in any way. Finally Doug a.k.a. "Beeker" has always stepped to the plate to help the program with whatever we need and we are very grateful for that. Thanks to all 3 for being in our corner year in year out.

4/7/09

As we progress through the season, more alums step up and deliver for the Jumbos. I am proud to announce that John Andon '84, Roger Grenier '88 and Jim Downing '91 have renewed their Diamond Club membership for 2009. Ando, Roger and JD were all terrific players and continue to be the backbone of the club to this day. Thanks guys, hope to see a lot of you at the golf outing!!

3/26/09

It is my pleasure to announce 4 more members of the Diamond Club renewing their support of Tufts Baseball, after a rough trip the alums once again lifted our spirits with their show of support. Dr. Matt Howard '81, Mike Grassi '99, Jack Erickson '92 and Jay Rando '94 all stepped up and showed their Jumbo pride. We appreciate it very much and will give our best effort this weekend to make you proud. Thanks guys for your support, it was a great pick me up. GO JUMBOS!!!

3/10/09

A nice boost to the program was received just as we embark on our spring trip. Four more members of the Diamond Club have been added to the rolls. All 4 are renewals which speaks volumes about the loyalty of Tufts baseball players. Special thanks to the "founding fathers" of the Diamond Club Brian Symmons '98 and Jon Mugar '99 for all their dedication and support over the years. Muges and Symmy have been instrumental in the success of the Diamond Club, we are very grateful for their efforts. Joining his teammates Matt Marengi '99 hand delivered his renewal a week ago. It was great to spend a few minutes with Marenge and thank him personally for his support. Finally class of 52 member Jack Fitzsimmons has once again stepped to the plate with his Diamond club renewal. We appreciate Jack's support and look forward to seeing him at the golf outing in May.

2/26/09

A second wave of support has been added to the 2009 Diamond Club team ranging from the class of ’52 to the class of 96.  Leading the charge to support Jumbo baseball are Oscar Porter ’69 and new diamond Club member Robert Cyboron ’70.  Perennial Jumbo baseball supporter from the class of ’77 Mark Fisher has stepped up to the plate with his renewal in ’09 and 1950 World Series participant Bob Taft ’52 has once again showed his support for the baseball program.  Dr. Matt Zipoli, a Jumbo captain along with fellow captain and now Costa Rican resident John Shelvey have come through in a big way once again.  Finally the class of ’96 closes this wave of support with the renewal of Diamond Club members Matty Lyman & Dana Nielsen.  We are already 50% of the way to last year’s membership number and our goal is to increase our total membership by at least one.  Thanks Jumbos.

After announcing the top of the 2009 Diamond Club line up last week, we get to announce the heart of the order.  The 4th through 7th members to renew their membership to the Diamond Club are Tom Snarsky ’85, Tom Walsh ‘94, Pat Fernan ’99, and Mike Ward ’90.  Thanks guys, your support is greatly appreciated.  In these tough times your help financially means so much to us but more importantly is the continuous support and loyalty you show to the program.  Go Jumbos, it’s great to know the Alums are behind us.

We are pleased to announce the first three members to show their support for Tufts Baseball by renewing their membership to the Diamond Club.  Mr. Anthony DeTeso A’44, Colin Cash A’95, and Jamie Pinzino A’97.  What a wonderful gesture by Mr. DeTeso to show his support all these years.  There is a long tradition of pride and excellence associated with Tufts Baseball and Tufts University as evidenced by the support of all of our alums.  Jamie, currently the baseball coach at Bryant University, is embarking on their first year in Division I.  Jamie has done great things at Bryant in his tenure and we all wish him the very best of luck this season.  A special thanks to Colin who has filled a big void with his sponsorship of the golf tournament and Diamond Club membership.  Don’t hesitate to contact us at John.Casey@tufts.edu if you have any questions about the Diamond Club.  Thanks Anthony, Colin and Jamie, you’ve gotten us off to a great start.  That’s what the top of the lineup is supposed to do!

After terrific senior seasons, two Tufts Alums, Brian Casey and Bryan McDavitt played in the NEIBA All Star game at Fenway Park on July 22nd 2007.  The College Division, made up of DII and DIII all stars beat the University Division, comprised of DI all stars, 2-0.  McDavitt started at first base and made a great play n an errant throw early in the game which kept the University players off of the bases and unable to score.  Brian Casey entered the game at second base in the third inning.  Brian Casey drove in the first run of the game with a line drive to right field to sac in the runner from third.  That was all the college division would need to get the win.
